Within an easy train ride from New York City, Rutgers is New Jersey’s largest public university (and large on the scale of most universities) with over 34,000 at the flagship campus in New Brunswick, NJ. Popular majors include psychology, nursing, communication, and exercise science, but the range of opportunities is really crazy: Rutgers is home to more than 175 specialized research centers, ranging from ancient Roman art to mountain gorillas. Rutgers football competes in the Big Ten conference, so there is a big sports culture on campus.
