University of Rochester in the city of Rochester, NY, is a mid-sized university with a flexible academic curriculum (meaning, lots of freedom to pick your classes) and excellent research opportunities for undergraduates (especially in engineering and the sciences). Students benefit from a unique “take five”, which gives students an additional tuition-free fifth year of college to explore and the Kauffman Entrepreneurial Year which lets students take up to a year, again tuition free, to pursue internships, business ideas, or other special projects.
